My Approach

Our experiences are a large part of who we are and the human experience is one that is unique to everyone. Each person is going to find they need help with something different than other people might, as well as in a different way. My approach to counseling is to honor your unique experience, identity, and needs in ways that are empirically-backed. Collaboration and meeting you where you are at are my priorities. Helping you feel comfortable and ready to do this work are my primary focus, followed by a strengths-based approach to help you identify the tools and abilities you already possess to begin your healing journey.

In sessions with me, you will find that I provide a space for you to communicate and express how you are feeling and what you are struggling with. I think of my treatment method as a large garden. I have a large, diverse array of activities, assignments, education, and resources I offer. It is up to you to decide what it is that you need or want from your time with me. If you do not know for sure, I will help you take a look around and sample some of the options until you find something that you like and that works for you. My hope is that your time in treatment with me feels safe, healing, and helpful.

I work with individuals 15+, as well as relationships. I work from a multicultural perspective, which celebrates diversity without minimizing the impact certain aspect of identity and culture can have on ones' mental and social wellbeing. Some specialties I have experience with is working with individuals with physical disability or developmental diagnoses; I also have experience working with individuals with complex PTSD.

My main modality is integrative, but within that, the heaviest influences are Emotion Focused, Cognitive Processing, Internal Family Systems, and Gestalt.
