Approach

My dominant practicing theories are those of Structural and Solution Focused Theory. Structural Theory focuses on the way in which the family is functioning and the changes that need to be made in the family structure to help them function more effectively. Solution Focused Theory looks at the solutions that the client brings to therapy for coping with problems and builds on the client’s successes. I also like to use some Narrative Therapy which is focused on changing the way that you look at your life or problems. I have worked as a Marriage and Family Therapist for more than 16 years in settings that have included the Pacific Lutheran University Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic and Good Samaritan Behavioral Health Care Center (both of which serve children, families, and couples) as well as public schools serving students K-12th grade, independently as Comfort Counseling (serving children, families and couples), and in nursing homes serving adults and seniors. I do especially enjoy working with children and teens as well as providing Christian counseling. I am a clinical member of The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
